Arts Connect have developed a new funding programme the ‘Arts Award Young Leaders Fund’ to support young people aged 11-25 years to access arts and leadership opportunities. The Arts Award Young Leaders Fund aims to support young people facing barriers to engagement with arts and cultural opportunities; we want to enable young people to access high quality arts and cultural experiences, grow their creative leadership skills and achieve Arts Award accreditation. Through the Young Leaders Fund Arts Connect will offer support to secondary schools, SEND schools, colleges and FE settings in the West Midlands to embed the Arts Award framework within their creative programmes and enhance opportunities for young people’s creative leadership development.
Arts Award Young Leaders Funding Includes :
- Arts Connect contribution towards Arts Award delivery and moderation costs – £500 (one off payment)
- Free Arts Award Adviser Training for up to two members of staff – Worth up to £400
- Two days youth leadership focused CPD, planning and student workshops – Worth up to £500

The New Art Gallery Walsall: Call for Volunteers! Are you a young person aged 18-24 and interested in a career in arts education? Are you looking to boost your CV? Might you benefit from some work experience this summer; assisting our artist educators with family workshops, gaining practical skills in a variety of mediums and an insight into engaging with children and their carers? If so, get in touch! We have workshops planned for selected Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays this July and August and we would value your support!

Let’s Talk About It aims to bridge the communication gap between members of Walsall community, employers, institutions and political policymakers. The pilot initiative will focus on responding to growing disparity within the borough and the inaccurate Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities: The Report 2021. The project sets out to amplify the voices of Walsall’s community through both visual creative participatory qualitative and quantitative research.
To launch this initiative, KIONDO has partnered with Near Neighbours. Near Neighbours brings people together in communities that are religiously and ethnically diverse, so that they can get to know each other better, build relationships of trust, and collaborate together on initiatives that

Finding Our Funny Roots. In 2019 Creative Black Country enlisted a team of local volunteers, colleagues at the University of Wolverhampton, and Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists to go out and meet people to research stories of the Black Country comedians of the past, such as Tommy Mundon and Dolly Allen, and collect stories of what makes us laugh in the Black Country. CBC and partners collected stories and oral histories, made a live show, identified key traits of Black Country humour and commissioned several videos detailing these findings. A stunning collection of new Live & Digital cross-discipline dance works created by Flexus Dance Collective with five incredible schools and colleges from across Wolverhampton.
